Our gyms have been open for months with zero issues, it’s by appointment and social distancing as well as strict cleaning procedures. I think if the state just came to me and said sorry your business is closed, we aren’t going to change any of your monthly bills or give you a stipend to keep you afloat or let me even try to open safely I would have a problem with it. If anyone on here can say that they would be ok with ANYONE for ANY REASON coming in and telling you, “sorry your livelihood is over because we said so” and not have a problem with it I would be shocked.

Local town pages on FB find him revolting except for fellow douchebags who like to call everyone else “sheep” for not liking him while just spouting off paraphrased versions of his Instagram posts. This gym owner regardless of reputation has an honest to goodness case against the NJ state government. Restaurants are allowing inside eating (reduced capacity), no masks, no oversight. Working out can be done outside for some places, masks can be mandated, and contact-spread of COVID is known to be a minority of cases. As someone who lifts, it isn’t too difficult to be 6 feet away when a barbell is 7ft long. I personally support our lockdown measure for my state, the gov is doing their best. But I cannot fathom being a business owner who cannot even get a word in w/ the powers that be.

I don’t fully understand the differences in state regulations for this stuff. Here is my little town of NC, gyms are back to being open, a lot of restaurants in my town are refusing the mask rule, and the customers are supporting the stupidity all the way. Barely any pushback. It’s sad and confusing. It’s like any other business decides to defy health (“I’m NOT cooking my chicken to 165 degrees Fahrenheit- gonna dry it out!”) or capacity (“what do you MEAN I can’t have 300 people in 400 square feet?! I have a fire exit and I unlock it most of the time!”). The regulations are a FLOOR.

I went on a dinner date with a guy from OLD. He takes me to a tapas restaurant and proceeds to chug 3 drinks in a matter of 15 minutes. The waiter asks if I want to see a menu and he tells them no. So apparently dinner is not happening. This guy sucks and he keeps randomly interrupting me to tell me where he buys his clothes. So I excuse myself to use the bathroom and the wait staff pulls me aside and asked me if I needed help because it was looking bad. They said they will tell him I left and to stay in the kitchen watching alien vs predator until he leaves. I waited 10 minutes until he left and I went to Wendy’s for a spicy chicken sandwich.

What bothers me is the fact that he felt harming innocent people would offset whatever feelings he was having. Spring 2007, I was struggling to get dates, having attractive women add me back on MySpace (Facebook was just starting to kick-off). I was thankful that I was able to let my folks know before all phone communication was swamped for the next three days. We didn’t know we lost him until the following morning when we had the formation and were told. I remember clearly the collective pain we felt, the sense of trying to find some sort of solace, that first vigil we marched down to as a Corps, the march to his funeral service later on, and trying to get back to normal to end the year.

Years ago, in the early days of the ‘net, I met this girl on Yahoo Personals. She’s trying her best to get out of a bad life and casually mentions that she used to be a dancer in various clubs around the area. On our second date, she’s over at my house. I had this 5-year-old picture of my 21st birthday at a local strip club. She saw it and pointed out that she was front and center in the photo.
