To bring the meds to the house yes it had to be a nurse but prn meds can be taken by the patient without a nurse on hand. This was most likely a home aid worker (whether health v just homecare for ADLs, doesn’t really matter) since they are more likely to be present longer hours than a nurse is. They just needed access to the house. The patient already had the meds there. Plenty of patients have family and neighbors that steal home meds. Narcotic diversion is not limited to nurses.

It is treated as an entry-level job and it really shouldn’t be. The work I do is not minimum wage work, the hours are extremely long and it’s incredibly taxing both physically and mentally. Potential candidates need to be held to a much higher standard than they currently are and training needs to be much more thorough. Chances are it’s not a nurse.
