There’s definitely a lot of that, but they are also understaffed, and severely underpaid. Many of these people make only $20k a year, work long hours, are trained in healthcare, have to clean literal human shit, and barely have enough time to care for each person because there aren’t enough workers. There’s a lot of rushing to make sure things get done on time.
And as a result, each person doesn’t always get the level of care needed. Most PSWs and nursing home workers I know do it because they truly care for these people. They barely make enough to live, and are so overworked, and hate the conditions they’re forced to work in, but they put up with it because they care too much.
