His theory knowledge is so deep, and as you said he often gets right into it fast, that it leaves me lagging behind not knowing what’s happening, and I’ve been playing for years. I mean, obviously, it’s not a good or sustainable financial situation to be in. I’m just more commenting on how common and prolific the issue is. I recently started my first salaried career-type job and I’m still blown away every month when I have money left over, even after sending some automatically to savings at the beginning of the month. Imagine your life now, working 40/50/60 hours a week and coming home barely able to keep your eyes open, and dreaming of the weekend so you can finally get rest. We should focus on living sustainably, especially in first world countries since we leave the largest footprint. And we should make good education spread all across the planet to create stable economies which in turn will stop the population growth. And then, if we’d still not be entirely sustainable, we should focus on shrinking our population in a way that doesn’t collapse our societies. Why do we want more people? Why is increasing the population of the earth a goal? Sustainability should be the goal, not growth.

Such an incredible shame; over in the UK, Van Halen was pretty much the gateway band for us 14-16-year-olds first getting into rock back in the 80s, no matter where your tastes led you later. Most of my friends bought guitars because of Eddy (although I sometimes wonder how many kept it up when we parted and went to university, and then Nirvana et all changed the market irrevocably away from cock rock…) but even now, decades later, I can’t hear the albums without being transported back to those youthful days of cheesy emotions and embarrassing nights.
