You guys understand that the point of the senate was to give the states with less population some more of a vote. The house of representatives is the balance to this where California has 53 and Montana has 1. This was not made to perfectly represent the population but as a compromise so that those states don’t get completely destroyed by people in California and NY, who don’t understand the needs of farmers, making all the policy.

 

The House of Representatives actually writes bills, and the Senate merely approves them to become laws. So California actually has a pretty big say over what goes on, but it needs the consent of other states to make laws that affect those states. This way, one state doesn’t have too much power over everybody else. The whole point of the system was to not give one area power over the entire country, if California had that much power most of our laws would reflect the views of people that live a small area if the country. Yes, the system is very flawed and needs work but you can see where the founders were coming from.
