A lot of folks actually don’t have the option. I know multiple people who were told by their company “if you are exposed and need to quarantine until your test shows negative, or you recover from infection, your time off will be covered” who went on to get exposed at work, get tested, get told to stay home by the company, only to learn when they got back that none of it would be covered and it all comes out of their PTO or will be unpaid.

That may not be the case here, this was probably just not giving a shit about others, but there’s a very nonzero amount of people who are fucked into the non-choice of coming in because they quite literally cannot afford to go unpaid for days or weeks on end to quarantine. It’s none of that. It’s none of that because I’d seriously wager if their kid was tested positive for literally anything else they would have kept their kid out of schooling and got proper health care.
