In golf, if you run out of balls you are either disqualified or (as someone correctly pointed out to me) you can borrow someone else’s balls so long as it’s the exact brand and type of ball, which would be a penalty. Because Tiger started using a brand new ball from Nike that weekend, no one else had it so he would have been DQ’d. Golf is weird. Every club goes a different distance and will be used for different situations: like tools. If everyone is competing to finish the same task and one person gets an extra tool to do it then they have an unfair advantage.
