On a related note, we recently moved to a new house within the same small city about 1 mile away and the premium went up on all the cars. The only difference is we have to go through 3 more traffic lights during our commute. You are correct, it’s an older, lower risk car. The frustrating part was it was a fairly large increase per month. I’d have been ok with a dollar or two, but it was like 15 dollars or more difference. I’d love to see the algorithm and statistics they use to reach that number. I’m assuming traffic lights are weighted heavily and adding 3 more to the equation just jacks up the risk.
