Honestly, if I had kids, this year I would let them decorate and dress up, then buy them some candy, then watch a couple of Halloween movies or something. I guess you could trick or treat with some precautions, but who knows if everyone would follow them? I would agree with this now. I’m almost 40. When I was a child everybody (most people) decorated their house for Halloween. You went door to door trick or treating. Now, go to the mall. Barely any houses decorated. We get maybe 3 kids a year because they all just go to the mall. That is just stupid consumerism. At least before you got to meet your neighbors.

To be fair, he’s talking about imposing a curfew because of Covid and that people are already planning large gatherings for it, which would be ridiculously dangerous. Italy was hit incredibly hard by Covid, so I can understand the curfew. It’s a great holiday and was my favorite as a kid. If it’s not part of your culture and you don’t get it, that’s understandable. If you want to denigrate it to feel better about yourself, you’re failing because that kind of thing doesn’t improve one’s self-esteem.
