My kids would occasionally see something on the news or a TV show and say to us “Santa isn’t real right?” and we’d just tell them the same thing; Santa is pretended, people like to pretend he’s real, don’t tell other kids that Santa isn’t real, enjoy the fun. Now that they’re older, my kids have told us they really appreciate that we never lied to them.

At Christmas time, I think it’s made them more appreciative of us, knowing their best gifts didn’t really come from Santa but from their parents who love them. The best part is we’ve never had to stop pretending.
