I hate watching her face when she seems so genuinely excited to do something nice for someone only for it to go horribly wrong because she made some weird decisions. Her transition from wide-eyed excitement to utter disappointment when the person is obviously confused or put-off by the gift just makes me die inside.

My mother talks a lot. Way too much to be honest. She had a stroke a month ago and I called the hospital to see how she was doing. The nurse put her on the phone and she kept trying to talk but she couldn’t. I could tell she wanted to say something but wasn’t able to get any actual words out. It was devastating to hear. I cried on and off for days afterward.
