American “conservative evangelical” religion has moved off into insane stuff and is pretty obviously deeply broken. For decades it has been big business and ever increasingly integrated into Republican politics. It is, as the lady says “out of whack.” The arc of the rise and inevitable fall of this round of religious upwelling in American culture appears to be on the downswing, leaving both the con men at the top and the adherents grasping. Assuming we don’t implode into some new form of fascism, we are going to look back at the embrace of Trump by “evangelicals” (and crazy shit like Q) as part of the final implosion of this bizarre bastardization of Christianity for profit and political power.
