Unfortunately, Papa died at 67 when I was only 8. He told me many stories about his youth but preferred to avoid most stories about being in war. He was a strong figure in our family, and had the highest morals from a person I’ve ever seen- he NEVER swore, never said a bad thing about another human being, always offered his seat on the bus, put his wife and family first before himself (moved to Canada and worked his butt off to build a life for his wife and children to join him), and even on his death bed after many surgeries (when he couldn’t talk of paper how he just wanted to take me to the coffee shop and tell me stories like old times.
