I turn off the internet to their device. I am also a gamer dad. I also have automatic cutoff times. They know the time. It doesn’t change. They will still whine sometimes but they’re fully aware that when I say they have a certain amount of time, that’s all they have. They will learn it they will suffer leaver penalties. Agreed, but I think it’s improved. Parents on average treated their kids quite a bit worse in the past. We’re only now (very gradually) getting to a point where people expect parents to actually teach their children about responsibilities and consequences instead of just beating them into submission.

Parents are the absolute worst! They’re enablers for their children. Not a teacher, but I used to work part-time for an after school program where I was a leader for my little group of 15-25 elementary school kids. Never had a problem with the kids, even the ones who constantly act out, because well, they’re children, and they’re learning, and I’m here to help them not yell at them. Their parents tho? A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. I can get a kid to understand that homework is completed before activities, but parents will yell and scream at me for not allowing their precious baby some playtime. My job was to help kids with their homework and have it completed, then activities. Some kids were so spoiled by their parents that they’d cry and kick and scream to me, calm down enough until a parent comes and then does it all over again for the attention.
