The people at the jewelry shop (when we went to replace it) said that it’s an impact thing and that I just happened to hit it at a bad angle, so maybe the twisting/prying force of opening a bottle wouldn’t do it? in Nebraska, I learned of something called Ninja Rocks which seems relevant to this discussion of impacts & ceramics. People would chuck one at a window to break it easily. I always heard it would only take a minuscule amount of force to accomplish this, and they’re made from shards of spark plugs.
