Side note: this process does not have a failure type due to porosity, due to the nature of the process almost all parts will be porous. however, there are other factors at play. Low sinter temperature, low compacting pressure, and underfilled die could all be contributing factors
That’s how I always understood it as well. Almost impossible to cut, but dropped on ceramic or hard surfaces, or pressure applied with pliers will break it. I vaguely remember a nurse telling me they use heavy-duty pliers to snap the ring when they need to get them off.
