No, people did not have the same opinion on diablo on the console. Because they didn’t announce it on their own massive stage people spent thousands of dollars to be at, lol. Blizzard faced MASSIVE backlash from this move into the mobile market and it was a slap in the face to every fan they’d ever made along the way. I don’t expect you to understand this unless you’re a long time blizzard fan, but their core fanbase is not the same as Activision and won’t have the same effect by just trying to cater to a massive audience.

They announced it at a pc gaming convention with their legacy audience, mostly over 30. Totally irrelevant to the financial prospects of the product that they pitched it to a non-audience for the product. Expectations are basically zero for the product. That sets up a possible beat, and it would reach a new audience which is growth.
