My grandpa died, suddenly, and I wailed as I heard the news on the phone. Curled up in bed, crying harder than I ever have, my cat got right up in my face. I thought, “OMG, here comes kitty to cuddle with me because she knows I’m in pain” and instead she lets out her claws and slaps me across the face again and again until I bury my face in the pillow for protection. I guess all my crying annoyed her.
