Leaving a hiking companion behind is unforgivable. She could have fallen, twisted an ankle, taken a wrong turn, or had another mishap. She could have run into someone meaning her harm. But some stupid football game outweighs all that? This trip was spiteful the whole way through. I’d love to hear your girlfriend’s description of this incident. She may be a piece of work too, can’t tell, but she needs to know the relative importance of her in your life compared to a football game.

YTA you don’t respect your girlfriend as much as you do a corporation that doesn’t even know you. Get your priorities, straight man. Do you know who never has to miss a game of their favorite team? Single dudes. You could have very easily changed your plans to an easier climb without putting the onus on her at the start of the day. you put a football game above your girlfriend’s safety, as you said yourself it would be a challenging climb for a beginner.
