I already fear the inevitable blowback from racists towards this, but all I’ll say is that with an incident like this I would far, far prefer NASCAR have an “overreaction” than an underreaction. The fact that they treated it seriously and showed solidarity is still a major positive.

Nobody is bringing up the fact that these mechanics have been in these garages countless times and have probably used these ropes to close the doors. It’s pure insanity that the mechanic didn’t know it was a door opener. Doesn’t anyone stop and wonder why everyone was so eager to jump to conclusions on this story? Why is journalism so broken?
