American here. Anytime a USA news program mentions World News, it’s usually about the middle east and or China and is only snippets 1min each. Like there is a whole world outside the USA that has many moving parts and so much else goes on that can have effects on us in some way or other.

Canadian here. I put on the BBC world news for the same reason, and there are less people shouting, and I can actually figure out why the cost of some items is related to crops in India or France.
