You don’t want to overthink zombies too much. There were some guys who did the math on TWD and basically if they all killed 10 zombies per day the whole thing would be over in a year. Literally, by the time, Rick woke up the whole thing should have been over.

That’s why it wouldn’t happen like that. A real zombie apocalypse would probably be more like some kind of chemical or trance that hypnotizes or alters people so they wanna eat humans. It wouldn’t be rotting bodies.
