That figure is incredibly misleading, it’s due to a misinterpretation of the article about the pentagon’s crappy accounting methods. They didn’t actually lose $1 trillion per year, the money was spent as it was supposed to be. They’re just really bad at accounting, which is a whole other issue. It’s entirely possible there was some money “lost” in the transactions but it was nowhere even close to $1 trillion.
