The growing disrespect and lack of concern over our health from both customers and management is the reason why I quit as a fast food cashier after working there for 3 years. Not only did people flock to fast food places as if there were food shortages (does no one seriously cook at home anymore?). But my management didn’t put ANY safety or cleaning procedures.
I was ridiculed for wearing gloves and constantly trying to clean our area and the things we used. For weeks I was the only one that wore a mask, and when several customers complained, the owner told us masks weren’t mandatory (our state had already determined it WAS mandatory for restaurant/fast-food workers.
