Anecdotally, I was in a really bad financial situation not too long ago and when I landed a job I didn’t have a problem getting my paychecks direct deposited in one of those damn Walmart money cards. The company I worked with at the time used a major payroll provider. No one batted an eye. those prepaid debit cards though. You can get your paychecks deposited in them without issue, but you will run into problems using them like you would a normal debit card in other ways and the fees are predatory as hell. Very glad to be in an infinitely better place financially now.
