Nowadays it doesn’t take much for things to escalate into something out of control. I agree you did the right thing by leaving it alone but you also had every right to go in there and demand the service you paid for without consequences to you or your loved ones. It really makes me sick that this is still a part of the world we live in and unfortunately seems to keep gaining traction.

I’m white and my husband is black. We recently drove from FL to PA to visit my sister. Throughout the south on our drive, and in rural places near our destination in PA, there were trump signs and confederate flags everywhere. We had to strategically choose where to stop and get gas because so many places didn’t feel safe for us. It’s ridiculous that we can’t feel safe getting gas because racism is so blatant and common. We’ve made the trip before, actually before trump was president, and never felt this way.
