I’m guessing that the organizers and participants are all from the “It’s just a cold” crowd though. Sort of like the college parties people held to get Covid-19 on purpose. top comment’s been updated. The Covid-19 band wearers were those who got over it, not actively infected.

If you follow the link to the initial article on the event, the purple bands aren’t for people who are currently sick with covid, but people who tested positive for the antibodies and have already finished quarantine. Blue was for people who tested negative before the event. Obviously, still nuts that this event went forward, but they at least weren’t encouraging people who were actively sick to come.
