When Ace of Cakes was super popular on Food Network, all I could think about was how the cakes looked super cool but must have tasted absolutely horrible. Imagine paying $1200 for a neat looking cake… that’s 5 days old and covered in about a pound of flavorless nasty fondant. It’s impossible for what they made on that show to be anything but stale and horrible tasting.

I made our own cake for my birthday one year when I was a kid. neither of us is bad bakers (though we’re not the best but any standards) but we must have mis-measured something because the entire cake ending up splitting down the middle and falling apart. it looked like a hell send but dear god, it was quite possibly the best cake I’ve ever tasted in my life. plus it was so fun to make, and even more, fun to laugh at the final product.
