I agree with this 100%. I worked for a small family-owned business once and I will never do that again. She didn’t give raises. She had no incentive to give me a raise. That would have literally been money out of her own pocket. Whatever she didn’t give me, she got to keep her herself. Actually, she did offer me one raise. After I quit, she offered me a raise to come back. I work for a similar style company but my experience is the opposite.
