Thanks, it’s only just been discovered, treatment has started, he’s stubborn about some treatment, but it’s also one of the 1st times I have seen him scared. We have set up a support group to let him know that he doesn’t have to feel this way. Now we have to hope that the treatment is successful and nudge him to other stuff if not. Lost my Dad to colon cancer back in 2008. Reading this gave me a needed scare to get off my ass and do everything I can to prevent it while I’m still young. Cancer fucking sucks, ugh.

I ended up getting my FIRST colonoscopy very young (half the recommended age), because colon cancer is preventable and treatable early on, but if you don’t get checked it’s going to be a death sentence if you have it. Colonoscopy’s are painless, and a procedure GI doctors do like weekly, it’s not a big deal. The general anesthesia is a bigger risk than the procedure itself and the worst part of the experience is drinking nasty prep juice. So please talk to your doctor if you show symptoms or have a family history.
