It’s really hard to process how responsible for her own life she really is. She grew up in an undoubtedly abusive and terrible family dynamic. Everything she’s done in her life has been decided on some level by her father. She’s a terrible person, but she also has never had a chance to distance herself and gain perspective about the abuse she’s been put through. I guess I have the same vibe from her that I do with a lot of racists. Being racist is a choice, but a lot of people literally don’t understand life without racist perspectives, because it’s all they grew up with, and they were never afforded the chance to leave their city and meet people that could expand their world views. Adults are responsible for making their own choices, but it’s really difficult to imagine deprogramming an entire lifetime of abuse.
