I never really liked GNR and when I read about your run-ins with them and your perspective of them and their views towards women, it helped me realize that rock has a really shitty macho culture, and shitty bands like GNR perpetuate it, while great bands like Nirvana were taking stands against it nearly two decades before doing such a thing was popular and socially acceptable.
