I went fishing with one of my uncles a lot when my mom would run errands and needed a babysitter and dropped me off at my grandma’s house, I was about 9 years old. He was a huge fan of fishing. He taught me how to cast, reel, bait types, it was awesome. I went about 5 or 6 times with him but as a young kid, it meant a lot since you get to do “cool” stuff with the uncle. Only for an hour or two at the local pond. Catch and release, head home to grandma’s house, get picked up by my mom right after. They were cool memories. He’d crack a ton of random jokes and talk about chasing girls.

A decade later, at a cousins get together, I briefly talk about how cool he was when the topic of fishing comes up. They all freak out and get all upset. Apparently, he’s a pedophile and touched a few of the others when they were young. Both male or female. I realized I haven’t talked to him in years because life got really busy (college, first few years of my career, etc).
