Also lots of bad attitudes towards women and gay people in rap I don’t feel like I need to explain this more. Lots of rap (including songs I listen to and enjoy a lot) do promote some not great messages about women in general and I know it’s largely for the music and not always entirely a true portrayal of their own views ETC. However, some others do not know this and naively parrot the beliefs that they believe their fav rappers have on I also feel like misogyny and homophobia are generally accepted as being part of rap. Azealia Banks. I don’t feel bad about any of it because she has absolutely faced consequences to her career for the shit she does. Even though I think she only had to actually deal with those consequences because of race/class/gender reasons, other more famous people get away with the similar stuff regularlyYeah, I almost feel like that’s the opposite of the elephant in the room because it’s halted her career so much.
