I worked in movie theatres for years. When Titanic came out, and every show was packed, we’d have the next group lining up as the previous crowd exited. We had two customers get in a heated argument after someone coming out of one show commented that the FX during the sinking scene was really good.
The problem is the majority of people are bad salespeople, including people in sales. They can’t talk you into wanting to watch or read something based on pure enjoyment descriptors itself so they rely on cheap emotional hooks.
