It would be nice if more of us had the luxury to do this in the US. Instead, we’re basically slaves to capitalism. Want to feed your family? Better just shut up and do whatever they ask. I think the even sadder part is a lot of people defend this system. “If you work hard you can have things.” Maybe you can enjoy life someday after our masters have stolen your youth and creativity to create “profit”.You know what? One thing to add here… it’s insane how exploited workers are in this day and age in America. Admittedly it’s insane (and worse) in a lot of other countries, but it’s especially shocking that such a developed nation doesn’t have better sick-pay laws! In the UK I can take a week off work without a doctor’s note for my mental health, and my employer isn’t allowed to even ask why I needed it. It doesn’t get abused either AFAIK (I’m sure it does in some small cases, but not largely)
