I’ve always said this. They’re like strippers, they play it up for the tips but very rarely actually want you for you. There are some exceptions to the rule but generally, it’s just them doing their jobs. I get its gratuity, but people fucking suck as customers. Also, my graciousness shouldn’t have to cover this hard-working person’s bills. As an ex-server, I can guarantee I would have never touched the job if it wasn’t tip-based. Sure there were a lot of stresses but on good shifts, I could clear $50-100 an hour.

One time a waiter gave me her number, like, she was really wanting to follow up. The whole interaction previous though was pretty standard and I guess she was doing more than just her job. Happened just the one time but it does happen. I’m like a 6/10 an 8 with the lights on dim, but she was definitely a 9/10, an easy 9.8 with some alcohol. It was a slight boost in self esteem I guess.
