The years vary wildly depending on the publication/institution, as it’s all completely arbitrary. Plus, most of the starting years were decided long before anyone had any idea what kind of technological advances, social norms, major events, and overall experiences that would eventually serve as the defining characteristics found in different generations.

Those who were not born with the internet but were still exposed to it by middle school. My family got our first computer around 88/89, floppy disks, and MS-DOS. Then got a computer with Windows/AOL in 96, I was 12. I think we are a different crowd from Gen X and Millenial because of it.
