No kidding, it took about two or three years before I emerged from my ego-shattered pit of despair and came to grips with the problem. And eventually, I came to be a huge Van Halen fan, of course. And I felt a true connection to Eddie, because he became like my guitar-playing big brother, always one step ahead of me, but always encouraging me and showing me that I could get there, too. God bless you, Eddie. You don’t know it, but you kicked my ass, destroyed my ego, and put me through hell. And I am so grateful for it.
