The optimist in me wants to say “but he did achieve success, and just like Stan Lee, he went out on top of the world”. But for some reason, it just feels hollow, and it’s because he’s so young. Older than me, but young enough that I know how I would feel. I’d feel scared, and constantly worried and stressed. I’d probably google the survival rates constantly, and it would just always have a tiny place in my mind.
This is maybe the most heartbreaking news of a celebrity’s passing I can recall. The only others that personally hit me this hard were Robin Williams (who practically made my childhood) and Chester Bennington (whose music got me through some rough teenage years, and still remains important to me).
