The secret is to make sure you’re getting good coffee. I think a lot of people really underestimate the difference between a chain coffee shop vs. a local coffee shop. If I get coffee from Starbucks, I have to add milk and sugar because their beans taste too burnt for me (Has anyone ever actually noticed the tasting notes on a bag of Starbucks beans?). On the other hand, it’s easier to acquire the taste for coffee if you go to a decent third-wave specialty roaster, where their roasts are often lighter than mass-produced beans. I use Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and that shit straight-up tastes like blueberries, not coffee.

What changed it for me was realizing that bitter is just a taste like any other, and there’s nothing inherently “bad” about bitter taste. things that are too bitter don’t taste good, but that applies for the rest of the tastes too. I don’t like things that are too sour or too sweet either. You should try and find some good light roasted coffee. It can often be closer to tea in its taste. Kenyan and Ethiopian coffee that has been dried with the fruit. Tastes miles better than what your mom (most probably) serves.

Nah bud, coffees fucking great. Just gotta find what’s right for you. My wife was the same way until introduced her to sweetened cold brew and now she drinks hot coffee from the drip just like I do. It’s 100% a bit of an addiction, but it is delicious. drink coffee all the time, still don’t like it. why couldn’t the most popular caffeinated drink be less insulting? I take it as a drug. Honestly, I find the bigger difference comes from how fresh the coffee is (how recently it was roasted). Roasting your own beans is a game-changer. Doesn’t have to be expensive beans. Or at least find a local shop that you can get freshly roasted beans. The stuff you buy at a local grocery store was probably roasted weeks, if not months, before. At the very least, don’t get pre-ground coffee. It starts to go stale within minutes of being ground. Oh, and good water makes a big difference in taste since coffee is mostly water. Use bad water, get bad coffee.

I love the taste of coffee, but I agree the smell is better than the taste That’s probably true for most aromatic things. I just get more out of the taste + consuming it than the then just smelling it. Lucky for me I get to enjoy all of it where you just get a small portion of it. I know you’re just fooling around, no offense here. My own two cents though – black coffee is the most delicious thing on this planet. I think black coffee is an excellent example of an acquired taste.

I don’t drink the fancy flavored stuff, I like the flavor of coffee and don’t want anything added. I also don’t care about the caffeine. I drink decaf at night so I can continue to enjoy it without getting all hopped up. That’s how you know the real coffee lovers btw – the ones who drink decaf. The rest of your rant is unfounded, though. Better coffees are worth the test. Different regions and varieties make a difference. I, for instance, am a huge fan of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or Sumatran varieties (medium-dark) made in a Moka pot. Different preparation methods make a difference too. If you’re drinking Folgers from a drip maker then, yeah, it’s gonna smell pretty good but tastes like ass. But Folgers in a Moka pot will taste different (probably better, but I am biased towards that process).

If you’re curious, you can go to a good coffee shop and spend a few bucks. The difference is really pronounced. Of course, you may still not like it, but it will definitely be worth the try if you want to know. Coffee that most people brew at home or buy ranges from bad to acceptable in my opinion. And if you don’t, you add milk or creamer, which just makes it slightly bitter but still not good. And for those who add sugar, it gets too sweet for there to be a real taste.

Ownership prioritizes short term money over long term customers. They don’t give a fuck, either because they don’t know enough to care or know enough and still just don’t care. They aren’t spending money on product and they aren’t spending money on labor, and that most of the time means they’re not shelling out any more money on keeping the kitchen and food storage areas clean and food-safe.

In Italy, as a general rule, having pictures of the food would actually be the flag which signals that the place is probably a tourist scam, with low-quality food. And also it would be unpractical for good restaurants since they usually change the menu often depending on the availability of quality ingredients.

I’m a big fan of nachos and this is a requirement for me. Is it one of those nachos where cheese is a topping and not a star? Nah, I want chips, cheese, meat, and beans in that order. Or maybe they use queso Blanco instead of a cheddar blend, hard pass. I like a little crumbled on top, but it can’t be the cheese. These are all things they don’t mention in the description but make a big difference.
