I am not a vegan nor a vegetarian but I want to understand people who are. Wouldn’t own a pet indirectly contribute to another animal to die? I’m not specifically talking about your pet or the pets that are alive today (I am not advocating for pets death) but rather from an ethical perspective of not causing harm to any animals in all forms, it seems similar to the objection of using leather products. I presume that the number of pets in the world is at the level it is because owning pets is popular and humans breed them. Doesn’t this imply that some animal died unnaturally to become food for the domestic animal?
