wearing open-toed shoes. I was constantly wearing too-small shoes (I was just a stubborn kid who wanted to wear what they wanted) and it resulted in corns on both my pinkie toes. I didn’t start wearing open-toed shoes until high school because I was so insecure about them but by that point, I realized they were barely even visible. Standing up for myself. I used to let people say and do horrible things to me because I didn’t want to offend.
I moved to Austria 5 years ago and was always too shy/afraid that people would laugh but I found that more often than not they would see I wasn’t native and help me along with whatever sentence I was trying to say. Currently in the process of packing up and moving to Sweden so I’m hoping I’ll have the same experience there! At least now I’ve had the experience of speaking a nonnative language and have more confidence to at least give it a try.
