When I was 21 I moved to London from America to go to school. I slipped walking down some stairs one night and I thought I sprained my foot. Well, a few hours into the night it became very obvious it was worse than that. By morning I couldn’t put any pressure on my foot without intense pain that made me fall to the ground. I knew it was broken. But I had to get to the hospital. Being a poor student in a super expensive city, I knew I couldn’t afford an ambulance ride.
I’m glad you’re okay and didn’t take a financial hit! it’s nuts. I’m insanely fortunate that I had insurance at all and that we were able to afford my bill. very depressing that I can consider myself “fortunate” because I didn’t get bankrupted in one of the wealthiest nations in the world for needing emergency medical care.
