I think a lot of the differences you’re seeing boil down to vast differences in culture. In pre-COVID times, Chinese people wore masks to protect OTHERS when they were feeling ill. That’s an outward example of the level of respect that the Chinese people have that Americans just don’t. Respect for elders, respect for strangers, etc. If anything has proven Americans are completely different than the Chinese, it’s masked. (Before I catch a ton of flack or get downvoted into oblivion.

I think it’s funny I’m getting downvoted for basically calling out the shit show that is/was our covid response. People who only have a single point of reference have no idea how terrible America handled this. Politics/governments aside we as Americans screwed this up. If India had at least proportionately as many deaths as the USA, that’s around 2.3 million dead. Are that many deaths being hidden?
