The US has 4% of the world’s population and 25% of all Covid deaths and cases. They handled it astronomically, insanely badly. From the former President telling people it was a hoax, criticizing masks and saying to inject bleach, to the nation’s top epidemiologist needing a security detail due to death threats (again from said President’s rhetoric and making wearing masks a political issue).

There’s no reason, outlier, or anything else to excuse the response America had, nor should it have ever been that bad. I am tired of seeing it downplayed, it’s horrid what happened and it still isn’t over yet. A large amount of the public made a point of not wearing masks, there were over 2500 deaths a day for months.
