I quit my job using my BA to help families out because childcare was too expensive. Granted public service pays like shit, but, it’s a two-fold issue. Now I watch the kids during the day and I Uber at night barely getting by. I’m a millennial and I have a wife and two children. We both went to college, we have debt. Neither of our families is money. It’s possible. Universal childcare would be cool if it really is good quality, but it’s not the reason you don’t have a family. At least not in most cases. We have the guts to take on the special interests and corporations that are profiting on our behalf. Don’t let them sway you with their fancy ads and Republican talking points. We can make it better for ourselves and our neighbors.

I have a family already at 31. Two little kids. I work and have worthless insurance through it, my husband had an awesome job that had decent insurance, still always had to pay a lot of out of pocket expenses. But he recently lost it. I still make too much to get on Medicaid which makes everything so much harder. We generally break even. His plan would help so much. Because I know I am not the only one who deals with this. I live in Canada, and one thing I hear is ” we need immigration because Canadians have such a low birth rate”. Well yeah…day care is 700 a month where I live, and we have the second or third lowest in the country. Affordable daycare would be amazing. I don’t know how people can afford to have three or four kids.
