Other countries have multiple parties because their ranked votes allow them to choose who they want without spoiling the election and throwing the victory to a more popular candidate they dislike. We already have that in Maine, and we should have that at the federal level. Imagine having six parties or more to choose from, instead of just two. I know I’d be voting Bull Moose Party instead of Democrat most of the time if I had the choice.
Same here, voted in every election since Clinton term 2 and this is the first-ever straight blue ticket I’ve cast. I’m the kind of voter that swings elections because I’m willing to consider both sides, I live in a swing state too. Been a lifelong registered Democrat but I believe (believed??) a balance of power was good. I study candidates and their positions and pick the person I believe is best suited for the job.
