During photos, I was only thinking about what they would look like. I spent the night dancing with my friends until we were the only people left and we didn’t even sleep together that night. After the wedding, he did not magically turn into a husband like I thought he would- it was exactly the same. I started getting depressed 6 months in and started seeing a counselor who mentioned divorce as an option and walked me through the process. We didn’t sleep together from the day we were married until we divorced 11.5 months later.

I refused to have my name changed which made a lot of family members ask constantly why? When I married my husband now, I did because I wanted children with him and finally experienced being treated how had always fantasized. I wanted more of the same thing instead of hoping he would turn into a husband. I was so excited the night before the wedding that I couldn’t sleep. The wedding was only for my closest family and friends. We didn’t even notice the photographer was there, we were just happy to be with each other. We left immediately after the cake, so we could start our honeymoon together. We get stronger and more in love every day – we have beautiful kids and have been married over 10 years 🙂
