In my country, most rural areas are extremely poor, even though by law you have to finish high school a lot of them don’t, don’t even talk about going to college (we have good public colleges in big cities) or even studying trade and most of them need the help of the Christian churches who are the only ones that “help” them and this make them have much more closed-minded views about things like sexual orientation and it’s hard to blame folks who (at least here) have children dying of hunger and tell them they should be more empathic when they are forgotten and live in the worst conditions in the country.
I see some discussion below, so to clarify: when I said nothing happens, I meant the government or local authorities won’t do anything to you. However, policies like these promote homophobia, which leads to continued discrimination from your fellow Poles. I don’t think I need to explain to anyone here what such discrimination may look like, it’s all the LGBT rights movement has fought against for decades, so I’ll leave it at that. It’s frightening to see the government openly support initiatives like “LGBT-free zones” (which is why a lot of LGBT people choose to emigrate).
